Integral Drill Rods
DRILLMAN integral drill rods combine the drill steel and tungsten carbide tip in an integrated construction. They are suitable for applications including granite quarries and underground mining.
The available specification shown above includes a 22 mm hex size, 108 mm (4¼ inch) shank length, 6 mm flushing hole, 24–40 mm drill-bit range and 400–6000 mm length range.
Integral drill rods are also known as hexagonal hollow drill steel rods with tungsten carbide tips, and are commonly used with compatible handheld pneumatic rock drills.
Tapered Drill Rods
DRILLMAN tapered drill rods use a tapered connection for fitting compatible drilling bits. They can be used with tapered button bits or cross bits for rock drilling applications.
The specification shown above includes a 22 mm hex size, 108 mm shank length, 6 mm flushing hole, 400–6000 mm length range, and 7° and 12° taper angles.
The tapered connection allows the rod and compatible bit to work together as part of the drilling assembly while allowing the bit to be replaced separately from the drill rod.
Choosing Between Integral and Tapered Drill Rods
The appropriate drill rod depends on the drilling machine, required hole diameter, bit connection and operating application.
Integral drill rods provide an integrated drill steel and carbide-tip arrangement, while tapered drill rods are designed to work with separately fitted tapered bits. For applications requiring replaceable tapered cutting tools, see our tapered button bits.
